WF2512 Series Wire to Board Connectors: 2.50 mm Pitch, Vibration-Resistant and Secure
As the operating conditions for electronic devices become increasingly complex, stresses such as vibration and cable tension can easily cause connectors to become loose or develop poor contact, which in turn affects the stability of the entire device. Consequently, higher demands are placed on the mechanical retention force and contact reliability of connectors. WCON Electronics’ WF2512 series is a 2.50mm pitch wire to board connector that offers the option of horizontal or vertical board-side mounting. It combines assembly flexibility, secure locking, and reliable contact, making it suitable for various layouts and ensuring stable interconnections.
This WF2512 series 2.50mm pitch wire to board connector supports both piercing and crimping termination methods.
- IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact): One-step assembly. The piercing method uses a U-shaped blade to directly pierce through the insulation to establish electrical contact, eliminating the need for wire stripping. This results in fast assembly speeds and is suitable for production lines with stable batch volumes and concentrated wire harness specifications, thereby reducing process steps and labor costs.
- Crimping: Offers greater flexibility for wire replacement. Crimping requires stripping the wire first, followed by using a crimping tool to secure the terminal to the wire core. This method is better suited for mixed wire gauges, small-batch production, and on-site maintenance and wire replacement, as it is not restricted by wire flexibility or gauge consistency.
In terms of board-side and terminal design, this 2.50mm pitch wire to board connector is also engineered for stable interconnects: the board-side features a dual-solder-tab design to increase the solder contact area between the contacts and the PCB, while the dual-contact terminal structure ensures reliable contact and signal integrity. It is suitable for applications in industrial automation, telecommunications equipment, and consumer electronics.
